VISX STAR S4 ActiveTrak Excimer LaserAt King LASIK, we recognize that your eyesight is precious. That is why we help safeguard your vision by utilizing only the latest, most sophisticated laser technology in our vision correction procedures. Here, we share the best technology for laser eye surgery and explore the role that our state-of-the-art laser technology plays in the LASIK procedure.

Our Advanced Laser Technology at Work

Prior to the LASIK procedure itself, your ophthalmologist uses the leading-edge WaveScan 3-D imaging system to map your eye’s topography. Like a fingerprint, your eye’s topography is completely unique. Thanks to the advanced WaveScan technology, the system can identify even nearly imperceptible refractive errors referred to as “higher order aberrations.” Your LASIK surgeon uses this information to calibrate the sophisticated excimer laser used to contour the shape of the cornea.

To start the LASIK procedure, your laser eye surgeon uses either a surgical blade called a “microkeratome” or, in the advanced all-laser iLASIK procedure, a femtosecond laser to create a flap in the cornea. At King LASIK, we use the benchmark in femtosecond laser technology: the IntraLase femtosecond laser. By using the IntraLase femtosecond laser for corneal flap creation, we can significantly reduce the risk of complications related to creating the corneal flap with a mechanical blade.

The corneal flap is then carefully lifted back to reveal the corneal tissue below. The surgeon uses the calibrated excimer laser to re-shape the curvature of the cornea, thus correcting the refractive error causing nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism. Once the surgeon is content with the newly shaped cornea, the flap is put back in it is original position, where it naturally re-bonds to the eye, without the need for sutures.

Thanks to our modern, sophisticated laser technology, LASIK surgery is faster, easier and more precise than ever! This is just one of the many reasons to choose King LASIK for your procedure.
