Dr. Colin Nelson
Dr. Colin Nelson is a highly trained LASIK surgeon with many decades' experience providing highly effective laser eye surgery treatments for patients throughout Western Canada. Over the course of his surgical career, Dr. Nelson has actively participated in the development of several key LASIK technologies and techniques. He has published numerous scientific articles in highly recognized medical journals, and he lectures extensively at ophthalmologist conferences worldwide.
Dr. Nelson: Professional Background
After receiving his Doctor of Medicine degree, Dr. Colin Nelson studied corneal diseases and surgery at the Corneo Plastic Centre in East Grinstead, England. Dr. Colin then completed a series of stringent examinations and professional record reviews to obtain the status of board-certified ophthalmologist. He has also earned memberships in several leading ophthalmology organizations, including the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the Canadian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the British Columbia Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons.
In addition to serving Victoria laser eye surgery patients at King LASIK, Dr. Nelson also serves as the Chief Surgeon at the Victoria Corneal Laser Centre.
Dr. Nelson: Research and Innovation
Dr. Nelson has performed more than 12,500 laser vision correction procedures and has extensive experience in both LASIK and PRK procedures. A pioneer in refractive eye surgery, Dr. Nelson has helped develop several techniques used by laser eye surgeons worldwide. In addition, he frequently shares his knowledge at professional conferences and has been recognized by his peers for his ability to provide excellent results in complex vision correction cases.
Dr. Nelson: Giving Back
Dr. Colin Nelson strives to give the gift of sight to as many people as possible. He has traveled to Guatemala, Mexico and Honduras to perform eye surgery for underprivileged patients. Dr. Nelson has also helped patients at St. John Ophthalmic Hospital in Jerusalem and has provided free services as a member of the International Eye Foundation.
