Eyelid Surgery FAQs:

How do I know if I need an eye lift?

The most common issues we resolve with eye lifts include heaviness or drooping of the eyelids, which are most pronounced when the patient is tired.

Do you find yourself constantly raising your eyebrows to keep your eyes open? If you do, you may be a perfect candidate for an eye lift. An eye lift repairs drooping or heavy eyelids and consequently relives the facial fatigue that results from repetitively raising your eyebrows.

Where can I get a consultation?

We currently offer eye lifts only in our Fort McMurray location. Dr. Chu would be happy to meet you and see if you are a candidate for eyelid surgery. Please call 780-790-2020 to schedule.

Is this a major surgery?

No. Eyelid surgery is done under local anesthetic. You will be completely awake during the process, which only takes between 15 to 45 minutes. Some patients experience some discomfort during the initial “numbing” process, but the rest of the procedure is quite comfortable.

What will my recovery be like?

Like any other surgery, you should expect slight bruising and swelling for several days to two weeks. Icing the area will reduce these. We will provide you with an antibiotic/anti-inflammatory ointment to be applied twice a day to your incision. Your sutures will dissolve on their own and fall out in about two weeks. To ensure a great recovery and amazing results you’ll love, Dr. Chu will monitor your healing process over the 2-6 weeks following your procedure.
