Let’s take a break from our usual interest in eyes today, and move 2 inches upwards to tackle a very common problem that affects both men and women: sparse hair growth and chronic hair loss in the eyebrow area. If the concern is a recent one, then there could any number of factors at play, ranging from dandruff and bacteria infestation to over-plucking and poor nutrition. In today’s article, we will look at 3 most effective natural remedies that are not just good for renewed eyebrow growth, but overall eye and body heath as well:
#1: Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is one of nature’s most effective conditioners and moisturizers and it does a great job of improving blood circulation as well. The fatty acid content in coco oil works in tandem with the hair’s natural proteins to strength it and prevent breakage. Lauric acid in the oil acts as an antimicrobial agent, preventing infection of hair follicles.
When To Use:
• Apply coconut oil on your eyebrows every day. Even using it a few times a week will give noticeable results within 6-8 weeks. Make sure that the coconut oil you buy is of high quality with no additives. Gently heat the oil for about 10 seconds in the microwave before application.
Method:
• Dip a cotton swab in the oil and apply on your eyebrows. Keep it on overnight. Rinse with a face wash in the morning. The oil is extremely beneficial for facial skin and hair as well.
#2: Onion Juice
Rich in vitamins B and C, sulfur, selenium, and minerals, onion juice is a miracle potion for faster and denser hair growth. The sulfur content accelerates production of collagen tissues and strengthens hair follicles. To cancel out the strong, pungent smell of raw onions, mix with lemon juice and apply.
When To Use
• For best results, apply onion juice to your eyebrows every alternate day before going to bed. (Equally beneficial for hair on the head as well.)
Method:
• Chop a small onion, and put the pieces in a blender to make a paste. Strain this paste to get the juice. Using a Q-tip, apply on your eyebrows. Keep it on for an hour. Wipe off with a cotton ball soaked in diluted lemon juice.
#3: Egg Yolk
Loaded with keratin protein and biotin, egg yolk is a marvelous source of these essential hair nutrients. Vitamins A, D and E prevent hair loss and protect the eyebrows from environmental pollution and UV rays. This treatment is particularly helpful for people who swim regularly in chlorinated swimming pool water.
When To Use:
• Apply a pack of egg yolk to the eyebrows at least 2-3 times a week. Do this with a light hand and keep the yolk concentrated in the eyebrow area only, because the substance can clog skin pores and cause an outbreak of acne if you’re prone to the skin disease.
Method:
• Separate the egg yolk from the white, and beat into a smooth consistency. `Paint’ onto the eyebrows with a Q-tip or a thin brush. Keep it on for 20-30 minutes and rinse with warm water. Be careful not to pull and tug at individual hairs while washing. Let the hardened yolk melt away with gentle massaging movements instead.
