Lorne Schlecht, M.D., is a board-certified ophthalmologist who brings over 30 years of experience to King LASIK. After completing his undergraduate at the University of South Dakota, Dr. Schlecht went on to Mayo Medical School in Rochester, MN. He spent eight years in training, performing research and practicing ophthalmology at the Mayo Clinic, where he also completed specialty training in eyelid surgical techniques and vision correction procedures.
Dr. Schlecht is nationally recognized for his research on eye diseases, putting him in a select group of lens and refractive surgeons. He furthered his specialty training in cornea and refractive surgery at Moorfield’s Royal Eve Hospital in London to continue to innovate and excel.

PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND
Dr. Lorne Schlecht is a physician and eye surgeon with a history of academic and professional excellence. He graduated summa cum laude at the University of South Dakota and Mayo Medical School. While completing his ophthalmology residency as Chief Resident at Mayo Graduate School of Medicine, Dr. Schlecht oversaw many of the industry’s brightest minds. Today, he’s a member of the American Academy and European Societies of Ophthalmology, with over 50,000 successful surgeries to his name.
RESEARCH AND INNOVATION
Dr. Schlecht has won numerous accolades in his career, including three national awards for research to prevent blindness. He was also among the first to offer laser treatments for bladeless eyelid surgery and small incision cataract surgery that results in more rapid healing. Although he’s proud of his achievements, Dr. Schlecht believes his greatest honor is the trust his colleagues and staff have in him. They’ve even selected him to perform surgery on their family and friends!

Dr. Schlecht was raised in a military family and lived in several states growing up. Even though he spent most of his time in the Midwest, he’s proud to now call Washington his home. When Dr. Schlecht is not in the office or staying up-to-date on the latest advancements in the industry, sating his relentless thirst for knowledge to positively impact those around him, he loves spending time outdoors gardening, hiking, kayaking, and camping with his wife and two dogs, or flying — he’s also an accomplished pilot!
