EVO ICL (IMPLANTABLE Collamer LENS)

ICL Surgery in Seattle, Portland & Scottsdale

EVO ICL (implantable collamer lenses), also known as implantable contact lenses, are an industry leading option for corrective vision surgery. When comparing ICL surgery vs. LASIK, ICL surgery is an excellent choice for people who aren’t good candidates for LASIK and not in the suggested age range for other corrective vision surgeries, like refractive lens exchange (RLE) surgery.

What is evo icl?

The EVO ICL is an artificial lens that gets placed in between your natural lens and your eye’s iris. It works similarly to a contact lens but has the added benefit of not needing to be removed each day.

These lenses can reduce or even eliminate your reliance on eyeglasses or traditional contact lenses. The biggest advantage of ICL surgery is that implantable contact lenses like the EVO ICL can correct even severe cases of myopia, or nearsightedness, but the benefits of ICL surgery don’t stop there!

Benefits of ICL

A GREAT LASIK ALTERNATIVE

People often compare ICL vs. LASIK, and it’s easy to see why. LASIK is an amazing corrective vision surgery, but it isn’t the right choice for everyone. Implantable contact lens surgery is an exceptional alternative, especially for patients with thin or misshapen corneas.

A CONVENIENT, PERMANENT, AND ADJUSTABLE SOLUTION

You won’t feel the EVO ICL in your eye, and others won’t notice it either. Once it’s in place, you won’t need to remove it — but it is removable if circumstances ever require it.

A FAST RECOVERY — WITHOUT DRY EYE SYMPTOMS!

The results of this surgery are typically noticeable immediately after your procedure, and ICL does not cause dry eye disease or any symptoms.

Am I a Good Candidate for ICL Surgery?

If you want to reduce your reliance on eyewear due to myopia, then you are likely a candidate for ICL surgery. If you’re at all curious, schedule a consultation where one of our doctors can officially review your candidacy!

Your surgery is performed by a skilled ophthalmologist and a talented team of eye care professionals who will make sure you are comfortable throughout the entire procedure. You will receive a topical or local anesthetic prior to the procedure, then your surgeon will make a small incision in your eye, where they will implant the EVO ICL. In total, the procedure takes 20 to 30 minutes with a brief recovery period after. You will need a ride home after ICL surgery.

Frequently Asked Questions about ICL

How much does ICL surgery cost?

Advancements in the industry, including state-of-the-art technology, have made ICL surgery more affordable than ever. Financing options are also available, making it easy for anyone to fit clear vision into their budget!

ICL vs. LASIK — How Does It Compare?

Both ICL and LASIK can help improve eyesight affected by nearsightedness, but the two surgeries aren’t interchangeable. LASIK surgery is performed on the eye via the cornea, which is then reshaped via a laser. ICL surgery involves implanting an ICL like the EVO ICL into the patient’s eye between the lens and the iris, so it’s usually a good choice for people with sensitive corneas.

Is ICL Surgery Safe?

Yes, absolutely! ICL surgery is an incredibly safe outpatient procedure, with a short recovery time.

Does ICL Surgery Hurt?

Most patients will receive a mild oral sedative, in addition to local anesthetic, so you won’t feel pain, only a bit of pressure.

EVO ICL

The EVO ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens) is an implant that corrects vision without removing any corneal tissue.

LASIK

LASIK is a two-step laser vision correction surgery where a flap is made on the surface of the eye called the cornea, and the underlying layers are reshaped with an excimer laser to correct vision.

PRK

PRK is a laser vision procedure similar to LASIK but no corneal flap is created. The top layer of the cornea called the epithelium is removed, and the underlying tissue is reshaped to correct vision.

As a fellow physician who was initially hesitant about undergoing LASIK surgery who pondered it for quite some time, I cannot express enough gratitude for the exceptional care and expertise provided by Dr. King. My apprehension regarding LASIK stemmed from concerns about the potential complications. However, Dr. King and his assistants helped alleviate all my fears through thorough explanations, and meticulous pre-operative assessments. He was always available to answer any questions or concerns I had! Dr. King's extensive experience and expertise helped instil a sense of confidence and trust in their abilities and I took the leap. I couldn't be happier with the results - on the first post operative visit I met with Dr. King who was very kind and professional. He took the time to answer any further questions I had and did a through examination. My visual acuity test showed that I could see 20/20!!! It has absolutely changed my life for the better. I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. King to anyone considering LASIK surgery, I couldn't recommend him and his team enough and will definitely be referring my family and friends to him!

King Lasik honestly changed my life. I have never been able to see. I've always had astigmatism, I've always had bad eyesight. I've needed glasses since kindergarten. The feeling of waking up, and being able to see individual leaves on trees made me cry. Dr.King is a really good soul, all of the staff are kind, and this was the best medical experience I've ever had. Thank you so much for everything!!!!

Great staff, very warm and friendly. Dr. King is amazing. Had the Lasik procedure done march 29th. And now can see clearly. King Lasik did my Dad's eyes 20 years ago and he still sees clearly to this day. So I am very hopeful for long lasting clear vision. So THANK YOU, Dr. King and your amazing Staff. Tadd.M
