Tips for Younger Looking EyesDid you know that others often judge your age by the appearance of your eyes? Want to keep people guessing? Here are some tips from King LASIK that will keep your peepers shining bright and youthful.

Wear Sunglasses and Sunscreen

Protect your eyes from sun damage by wearing sunglasses with UV protection — UV 400 is recommended. In addition to glasses, wear a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30, and one that contains zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. Consistently protecting the sensitive, delicate area around your eyes from the sun will postpone and even prevent crow’s feet and sun spots.

Sleep with More Pillows

Want to eliminate those puffy eyes? Add a pillow or two under your head while you sleep. Keeping the head elevated during the nighttime hours will prevent excess fluid from accumulating in the eyelids and under the eyes, causing those “bags” that are the telltale sign of age and overall wear-and-tear.

Apply Anti-Aging Eye Creams

An eye cream that contains hyaluronic acid and CoQ10 helps the skin to produce more elastin and collagen, both of which decline naturally as we age. These elements also help the skin retain its natural moisture, while at the same time the antioxidants found in many anti-wrinkle eye creams will protect the skin from free radicals. Daily application of an eye cream that meets this criteria could shave years off of your face’s appearance.

Create the Effect with Makeup

Hide the imperfections caused by age by using a yellow-based concealer that is at least two shades lighter than your skin tone to cover dark circles under your eyes. Finish it off with some loose-pressed powder in the same shade, being sure to use it lightly as an overabundance of powder calls attention to wrinkles instead of detracts from them.

Use Tea Bags

Dunk two tea bags in water and use them as eye compresses. The anti-inflammatory properties of green tea and chamomile tea will help rejuvenate puffy, swollen eyes. And the caffeine, tannins and antioxidants in the tea will soothe the skin around the eye area, relaxing any eye strain that causes lines to occur. Leave the tea bags on for at least 10 minutes and then throw them away and start with fresh bags the next time. This routine can be done as often as possible to add spark to tired eyes.
